Vintage Cavalry Artillery Saddle With Artillery GirthI believe this is a second pattern m 1904 artillery mcclellan saddle. The saddle appears ot be in good condition, for it's age. The stitchnig looks solid. The leather has some age checking. I feel it is all solid. The right rear bar hsa the letters ( ws 1918 ) stamped in the leather and some other letters that are hard to read. The right front staple and ring are missing, please see photo. I think everythign else is in place. Both asfes have the letters ( h. S. S. Co. ) also the letters (jcm) stamped in the leather. The shield on the front of the pommel says 12 inches. The horse hair girth looks to be in good condition and i believe ti is an artillery type. The one cinch safe has (rock island arsenal) stamped along with the letters ( wtg ). The other safe has the number 28 stamped in the leather. The underside of the saddle looks to be in good condition. The bottom of the stirrups has some letters but are difficult fro me to read.
