This is an original period piece of the span am war (or earlier), u s marked leather holster for an 1892, 94, 96, or 1901 colt d. A. 38 caliber. The holsetr is bloack leather and is in good condition. Like most of these holsters, the toe has been removed to prevent dirt accumulation. The holster is stamped no the back, e12, cav, 23. I presume that ti was issued to a troop of cavalry. The stitching is in good condition except for the last one inch toward the end of the holster. The leather has no tears. |
